WHY IS MALE WAXING BECOMING MORE POPULAR?
Men are becoming more into personal grooming, whether that be skin care, hand & nail care or hair removal treatments. Waxing is the ultimate in personal grooming for men, providing many benefits such as, feeling fresher, improved appearance and increased self confidence. WHO HAS WAXING TREATMENTS? Waxing is advantageous for dancers, bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts as it makes their body smoother and their muscles look more defined. Athletes such as swimmers and cyclists can improve their performance by keeping their legs hair-free. Of course, it is not just the aforementioned, many men like to be hair-free and choose waxing, as it is more effective than shaving. The only areas that cannot be waxed are the head and beard area. Nostrils, ears and brows can all be waxed and enhance facial appearance and self confidence. HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED WAXING? Every client is different, initially it is recommended to have wax treatments every 4-6 weeks, this will allow the hair growth cycle to synchronise. With regular treatments, the hairs will begin to grow finer and slower, enabling treatments to be stretched to 6-8 weeks. WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE? If the area has not previously been shaved, the hairs may need to be trimmed down to the optimum length which is 1/4 of an inch. The area to be waxed will be cleaned with a pre-wax cleanser. You will be positioned so that you are comfortable and that the skin can be stretched to allow the hairs to be removed easier. For facial and intimate areas hot wax is applied in small patches, this wax sets and is then removed; for legs, buttocks, chest and back, warm wax will be used and removed with a strip. Once the area has been fully waxed to your desired look, any stray hairs will be plucked and a post-wax lotion will be applied to soothe and nourish the skin. PLANNING FOR YOUR INTIMATE WAX PROCEDURE Impeccable hygiene is a must! You will be required to remove your underwear prior to treatment. It is recommended to wear loose underwear and clothing as you do not want to cause friction on freshly waxed skin. If you have presently been shaving the area please allow all the hairs to grow to a minimum of 1/4 of an inch, any shorter than this and the hairs will not all be fully removed. |
